Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Managing customer demands & plant capacity in both the short & long time for matching with supply and demand requirements.
  • Monitoring and reviewing production planning & raw material functional performance to ensure the team meets/exceeds its business plan targets and objectives.
  • Interfacing with customer’s regarding requirements, enquiries and the allocation of shipments.
  • Liaising with Production, Engineering and other departments in relation to the planning of resources to satisfy customer requirements.
  • Liaising with local and overseas suppliers, placing orders as per the forecasted production demand and controlling delivery until arrival at the factory.
  • Maintaining raw material and finished goods inventory to meet on time delivery targets in an organized and cost effective manner.
  • Planning to maximize plant capacity in terms of machines and labour.
  • Maintaining inventory at an established level to comply with company policy.
  • Ensuring the smooth flow of materials and finished goods to minimize distribution and handling costs.
  • Managing supplies and suppliers to ensure availability of components in time and as per schedule.
  • Ensuring efficient management of stock to avoid shortages, excess stock and obsolescence.
  • Ensuring optimum inventory levels to service market requirements whilst ensuring efficient working capital deployment.
  • Being the point of contact with customers, committing to shipment/capacity and controlling the schedule as per commitment.
  • Controlling the inventory of raw material, WIP and finished goods according to company targets.
  • Participating with cross-functional teams to design, evaluate, recommend and implement operation processes.
  • Assisting and working closely with other departments to solve unexpected planning and scheduling difficulties to meet monthly requirements.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field but preferably in Logistics, Statistics or Engineering, an MBA will be an advantage.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in production planning in a manufacturing environment, especially in the automotive industry.
  • At least 5 years at managerial level will be an advantage.
  • Experience in using ERP systems to control and manage supply chain functions, especially SAP will be an advantage.
  • Good command of both spoken and written English and computer literacy.
  • Strong leadership, a team player and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work under pressure and commit to excellence.
