Job Description

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will report to the Expat Engineering Manager and will be responsible for the following key functions;

  • Attend customer meetings and events to report progress and receive direction on engineering and program matters and milestones.
  • Manage tooling programs, including; conducting of trial phases, ensuring parts and components meet customer requirements and internal objectives.
  • Maintain strong working relations with customers and stakeholders to ensure conformance of engineering specifications and customer requirements.
  • Review and follow customer and supplier contracts and launch programs at budgeted costs.
  • Track Capex & Tooling spending to budget and report monthly to finance actuals and forecasts.
  • Contribute to estimating and costing exercise on existing programs, product introductions and target business.
  • Ensure data is available to input into budgeting process.
  • Create, communicate monthly Program & Project status reports, including timing, economic and technical fields.
  • Ensure Programs are managed efficiently with achievement of key milestones and costs to budget from customer inception through production launch.
  • Coordinate all new program activities, set up and follow program master schedule (design, validation, industrialization).
  • Itemize new program projects into activities so project status can be monitored; using master schedule, time-lines, open issue lists.
  • Determine Equipment, Tools, Labor, Materials, and Testing required to complete projects on time and to budget.
  • Ensure all require program documentation is completed accurately, put together for sign-offs, and filed appropriately.
  • Products, Tooling, Equipment, Processes, Designed & Developed for Produce-ability, Quality, Function, Performance, Reliability, Serviceability, Cost.
  • Liaise and lead contractors and staff to ensure designs are feasible and parts are available to support development, pre-build and launch events.
  • Plan design verification component testing and evaluations, define and lead qualification plans and analysis (using DVP - DVP&R formats).
  • Interact cross-functionally with all MHG departments and customers to ensure related products and processes are compatible.
  • Provide technical solutions to queries and matters relating to current work and prospective targeted programs.
  • Interact with internal staff, customers and vendors to ensure that project deliveries are met within prescribed time frames, budgets and specifications.
  • Communicate to suppliers and vendors up-to-date CAD data, 2D Drawings, GD&T and Specifications so all requirements are clearly understood.
  • Analyzed tooling designs for conformance and feasibility utilizing world class manufacturing principles, file and maintain tooling and product designs.
  • Support suppliers in development of tooling; paint jigs, racks, molds, gauges, assembly equipment, etc., at all levels.
  • Continuously improve tools and processes to reflect any change in work environment.
  • Communicate cross-functionally with all staff in order to ensure the smooth running of programs throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Conduct regular team meetings in order to communicate general MHG & Customer news and allow cross communication in an open forum.
  • Assist in ensuring all cross-functional program teams understand their objectives and assignments.
  • Provide guidance, training and education to employees as required.
  • Contribute to regular and ongoing Engineering & Program reporting.
  • Develop, promote and enhance teams based on continuous improvement, Ensure systems in place are followed and maintained.
  • Promote a safety conscience culture with emphasis on proactive workplace hazard identification and risk elimination.
  • Communicate regularly and openly with Engineering & Program Manager, Executive General Manager, and Manufacturing Operations General Manager.
  • Represent MHG positively to community, customers, agencies and the public; maintain strong and positive relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Promote a safety conscience culture with emphasis on proactive workplace hazard identification and risk elimination.
  • Be pro-active in problem solving matters.
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks from time to time as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or higher in Engineering or other related field
  • 5 years exposure within Manufacturing Engineering (Automotive), International experience.
  • Background in Automotive & Plastic Industries (plastics, injection molding, and assembly)
  • Strong in Program/Project management.
  • Good command in English.
